Job Description

On behalf of The RAND Corporation, a non-profit research organization providing objective analysis and effective solutions that address the challenges facing the public and private sectors around the world. Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking bilingual English/Cantonese speaking Telephone Interviewers in Santa Monica, CA.

The RAND Survey Research Group (SRG) is currently hiring Bilingual English/Cantonese Telephone Interviewers. This is a part-time, hourly, temporary adjunct staff position without benefits. The position is 20 hours per week beginning April 2019 for six to eight weeks.

Interviewers will conduct structured telephone interviews using CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing) with family members or caregivers of recently deceased adults about their experience of care at the end of life. Interviewers will follow study protocols and strict quality control procedures, working scheduled shifts in our Santa Monica office.

  • Fully bilingual in English/Cantonese
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak on the phone in a clear and professional manner and to establish rapport with participants
  • Comfort talking with diverse groups of people about sensitive topics
  • Good computer skills; Experience with CATI systems helpful
  • Ability to work in a production-oriented environment
  • Ability to read scripts verbatim and adhere to strict quality control procedures
  • Availability to work 20 hours per week during 6-hour scheduled shifts. All interviewers must be available to work at least one weekend day most weeks. Flexible schedule is helpful.

Physical Requirements:
  •     Sit for extended periods of time
  •     Speak on the phone for up to 90% of your shift
  •     Work in an open office environment
  •     Communicate through speech and listening
  •     Reach with hands and arms
  •     Sit and view a computer screen for long periods of time.

  • Successful applicants will attend a mandatory paid 3-day training at the RAND Santa Monica office. Training scheduled tentatively for April 2019.
