Job Description

On behalf of Mathematica, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Part-Time Data Collectors to work on the School Nutrition and Meal Cost Study-II, sponsored by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Denver, CO. This position requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. Pay for this position is $18 per hour.

Field Data Collectors will travel to schools, completing tasks such as cafeteria observations, computer-assisted (CAPI) staff interviews about school meal costs, measuring school plate waste, and other duties as assigned. Data collection will take place in over 150 school districts nationwide. As a field Data Collector, you must be available to travel out of town for up to 5 days at a time.    


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Data collection experience strongly preferred
  • Experience teaching, training, accounting, school nutrition services, or conducting CAPI surveys is a plus
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and access to personal, reliable, and insured transportation
  • Ability to work well independently and under the direction of project coordinators
  • Access to a computer and high-speed internet for work purposes
  • Excellent computer and communications skills
  • Must be comfortable working in a school and professional setting
  • Must be willing to complete a background check prior to employment

Training and Schedule:
  • Mandatory, in-person, paid training is scheduled for January 6th-14th in Princeton, NJ
  • Further employment is contingent upon successful completion of training and certification
  • Qualified candidates should be available to commit for the full length of the study data collection (approximately January-June 2020)
  • There may be weeks when there is no work due to school closures or other school commitments 

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations. 
  • Ability to lift and carry study materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Must be able to carry equipment upstairs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit for periods of time, use hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Experience and ability to operate a laptop computer and or tablet/ with skills and visual acuity including connecting to Wi-Fi and using/sending email on a mobile device.
