On behalf of Mathematica Policy Research, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking Bilingual Part-Time Field Staff to work on the Mother and Infant Home Visiting Program Evaluation (MIHOPE) study in Milwaukee, WI.


About the Study

MIHOPE is a legislatively mandated, large-scale study of the effectiveness of home visiting programs funded by the federal Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting program. The goal of MIHOPE is to better understand how home visiting services provided to expectant parents and families with young children can lead to better long-term outcomes for at-risk children and families.


About the Position

Part-Time Field Staff will locate selected respondent and facilitate telephone interviews and travel to selected respondent locations to conduct in-home child and family assessments. This is a short-term, part-time position averaging 30 hours per week. Part-Time Field Staff will be required to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, and must be available for some extended overnight travel throughout the state. Pay for this position is $20/hour. Mileage will be reimbursed at $0.545 per mile.


Part-Time Field Staff will:
  • Coordinate distribution of survey incentive and scheduling of in-home assessments
  • Conduct Preschool Language Assessment Scale (preLAS) as a warm-up and language screener
  • Assessment of children’s language development and oral comprehension skills
  • Assessment of children’s early numeracy and math skills
  • Assessment of children’s executive functioning, including their working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility
  • Video-record a semi-structured parent/child play-based interaction task
  • Assessment of caregiver/maternal cognitive control
  • Observer ratings of parental warmth and the child’s emotion, attention, and behavior
  • Submit time, mileage, and expense forms daily
  • Complete and return all survey data according to required deadlines

Requirements:
  • Data collection experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with children, including retired counselors and social workers, teachers, and substitute teachers strongly preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates preferred, but not required. Bilingual applicants will be tested by an independent testing agency and must be certified.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and access to personal, reliable transportation
  • Ability to work well independently and under the direction of project coordinators
  • Access to a computer and high-speed internet for work purposes

Training and Schedule:
  • Paid, in-person, mandatory training is scheduled for November 27th – December 7th, 2018 in Princeton, NJ
  • Further employment is contingent upon successful completion of training and certification
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen
  • Qualified candidates should be available to commit for the full length of the study data collection (approximately 12 weeks)

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to lift and carry a rolling suitcase with study materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Must be able to carry equipment upstairs.
  • Regular and reliable access to an insured motor vehicle. Will be required to operate the motor vehicle for driving distances in excess of 100 miles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit for periods of time, use hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Experience and ability to operate a smart phone and or tablet/ with skills and visual acuity including connecting to Wi-Fi and using/sending email on a mobile device.
