Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist is a full time position within the Headway corporate structure and is specifically dedicated to employee relations with Headway’s contingent clients. The position reports directly to the SVP of Human Resources. The primary function of this position is to work with managers on coordinating progressive discipline, performance management, conflict resolution and employee risk matters ensuring a consistent and aligned approach. The Human Resources Generalist manages all employee work injuries, collects the necessary reports, and files worker’s compensation claims. 

This position requires complete professionalism with a focus on customer support and prompt response for all client employee issues. The Human Resources Generalist must have a strong understanding of employment law to include discrimination, harassment, compensation and retaliation. Multi-state experience is required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as point of contact for all grievance issues from employee and managers working as contingent staff and for seasonal retail and sports teams
  • Advises Client’s management regarding discipline options on a case-by-case basis and helps devise remedies
  • Documents each issue and continues monitoring the situation while regularly updating corporate HR and the Client
  • Escalates complex employee relations matters to Headway’s Corporate SVP of HR and legal team to work toward legal resolution
  • Provides assistance to contingent employees when they need to discuss any issues that may need diffusing
  • Strives to reduce and/or alleviate high risk situations that would otherwise result in an EEOC, DOL, ADEA claim or litigation
  • Gathers and prepares all documentation requested for EEOC claims, lawsuits and wage and hour complaints
  • Develops periodic presentations requested by the clients on employee relations issues
  • Assists and works closely with the HR Manager with compliance requirements/projects
  • Handles Workers Compensation claim reporting including wage statements per state requirements and runs various ad hoc reports based on client requests (loss time, financial summary, etc.)
  • All other job duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a 4 year college or university 
  • 5+ years of human resources generalist and employee grievance/conflict resolution experience within HR industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PH/RSPHR or SHRM CP or SCP certifications are preferred

Knowledge and Skills:
