Job Description

Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking a Machinist II for a mid level contract opportunity in North East, MD. with our partner, an engineering and plant construction company for clients in the metals industry.

As a Machinist II, you will:
  • Form and shape material.
  • Operate lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating, and profile machines
  • Work from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts
  • Work is diversified and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances.
  • Require knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes.
  • Determine dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts or descriptions of parts
  • Compute cutting speeds, feed rates and dimensions
  • Prepare and pre-set all tools needed for machining operations
  • Inspect machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications
  • Perform housekeeping of machine and work area
  • Handle daily maintenance check of machine
  • Handle other work that may be assigned at Management’s discretion.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude required and prefer 2 years of minimum experience.
  • Crane/Forklift. Welding. In house training provided to obtain certifications. Valid Driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects.

Additional Information:
  • This is a 8 month contract
  • 40 hrs per week
  • Hours are from 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM OR 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
