Job Description

Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking a Mechanic I for a 3 month contract in Milan, OH for our client metal producers in the steel industry, striving to serve metals producers as the global authority in metals excellence.

Primary Function:

  • Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, torch work, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
  • Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools; moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks; assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors, using hand and power tools; constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance.
  • May drive a truck and/or crane, once certified.
  • Travel to other locations may be required.
  • Other work may be assigned at Management’s direction.

Education/Experience/Licenses:
  • Tools/Equipment Used Hand Tools
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Safety Equipment Used Safety Boots; Hard Hat; Safety Glasses; Welding Gloves; Fall Protection; Ear Plugs; FR Uniforms; Welding Hood; Long sleeved shirts/jackets.
  • Certifications Crane/Forklift. In house training provided to obtain certification. Driver’s license. Other certifications may be required specific to locations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to read, write, type, and use a telephone.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects,
  • tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
