Job Description

Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking dependable and self-motivated Mill Operators in the Weldon, NC area. The Mill Operator is responsible for operating and ensuring the proper function of mill machinery.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Start machine and guides material into feed rollers
  • Measure thickness and width of material, using micrometer, gauges and tape measure, and adjusts pressure on rollers so thickness and width of material conform to specifications
  • Observe recording control chart and adjusts coolant valves to control temperature of rollers
  • Remove rolls of material from roll
  • Record width, yardage, and type of material pressed on work ticket and attach ticket to roll of material
  • May change rollers, using hoist and handtools
  • All other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:
  • Must be available to train on 1st shift (7 am-3 pm) and work 2nd shift (3 pm-11 pm), Monday-Friday
  • Prior manufacturing or production experience is preferred
  • Must be able to read rulers and measurements
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

  • Weldon, NC

Physical Demands:
  • Required to walk, stand, use their hands and fingers, grasp, reach, climb, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and use repetitive motions
  • Be exposed to fumes and odors as might be expected in any indoor environment
  • The employee is required to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Comfortable working in a hot and cold environment, as the facility is not climate controlled
  • Ability and willingness to stand for the entirety of your 8 hour shift. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through speech and listening in loud and crowded locations

Compensation:
  • $10 per hour with the potential to transition to full time employee, with an increase in pay
