Job Description

On behalf of RTI International, Headway Workforce Solutions is seeking motivated and independent individuals to conduct surveys for various research studies. We are looking for Part-Time Field Interviewers for several projects that we recruit for year-round. As a Part-Time Field Interviewer, you will screen participants while adhering to study and HIPAA guidelines.  An ideal candidate for this role has a flexible schedule, reliable personal transportation, and past field interviewing or data collecting experience. The hourly pay rate for this role varies based on project and location.

As a Part-Time Field Interviewer for RTI, you will…

  • Travel frequently to respondent locations (door-to-door, businesses, schools, etc.)
  • Be outside and exposed to all types of weather
  • Read text verbatim and communicate through speech and listening
  • Provide prompt, reliable, and accurate reporting to Field Supervisor; submit accurate expense reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality of all survey data, including participants’ personal information and responses in compliance with HIPAA and IRB guidelines outlined by RTI during training
  • Attend and complete training, either in-person or online depending on the project
  • Assume responsibility for and carefully track all money used for cash incentives, along with any other equipment provided by RTI

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years’ old
  • Personal, reliable transportation with a driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Ability to work 20 – 30 hours per week, mostly evening and weekend hours as required by your specific assignments. Availability to work during daytime as needed.
  • Regular access to a personal computer and wireless internet connection for completion of training courses
  • Able to transmit data electronically

Skills Required:

  • Personable, responsive, and interactive when conducting interviewing activities and able to work with a diverse population
  • Able to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish is a plus
  • Competence in computer skills

Training Requirements:

  • Attend project specific training either over the phone or in-person (varies by project)
  • Read and successfully complete all general Field Interviewer and project specific materials
  • Read the Field Interviewer manual and successfully complete a home study prior to attending training
  • Participate in on-the-job training with a mentor or Field Supervisor, as needed
  • All Part-Time Field Interviewers will be employees of Headway Workforce Solutions

Physical Demands (similar to responsibilities of an FI):

  • Travel frequently to respondent locations
  • Be outside and exposed to all types of weather
  • Be exposed to fumes and odors as might be expected in any outdoor environment
  • Stand, walk, and climb stairs
  • Communicate through speech and listening
  • Read text verbatim from a tablet or computer screen
  • Transport a laptop and tablet, and materials weighing approximately 12 pounds
