Job Description

On behalf of the Office for Survey Research (OSR) at Michigan State University, Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking Part-Time Research Interviewers. As a Research Interviewer, you will work on health-related telephone surveys that track health risks in the US through the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System in East Lansing, MI.

The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is the nation's premier system of health-related telephone surveys that collect state data about U.S. residents regarding their health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and use of preventive services.

This is a long-term, part-time position offering at least 20 hours per week. Each shift is 6 hours and evening and weekend work is required. Pay for this position is $11 per hour. There will be a 5 day, paid training dates to be announced.

As a Research Interviewer, you will…

  • Conduct survey interviews by telephone, adhering to study standards, procedures and guidelines
  • Gain cooperation from reluctant respondents by averting and converting refusals to participate in the study
  • Understand study protocols and possess the evaluative skill to follow those protocols or tailor the approach as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Data collection experience
  • Must have a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Demonstrated skill in recruitment strategies
  • Proven success with administering enumerations for eligibility
  • Excellent reading, listening, grammar and enunciation skills
  • Dependability and professional attitude
  • Basic typing and computer skills
  • Willing to be receptive to and act upon performance coaching
