Job Description

Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Director for a temp to hire opportunity in Raleigh, NC. This is a great opportunity to work with one of our partners that provides services to increase functioning for individuals with psychiatric disabilities.

As a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Director you will:
  • Help to develop and coordinate an effective service array for each Psycho-social Rehabilitation program under the auspices of the PSR
  • Develop and administer an assessment of community needs for the purpose of program planning.
  • Assess the strengths and needs of each program and work with consumers, staff, and other stakeholders to develop viable services for the program.
  •  Function as a member of a team that will initiate a strategic planning process for development and operations of Psychosocial Rehabilitation programs operated by the PSR.
  • Provide leadership in directing the operation of program services that is consistent with the mission statement and philosophy of the PSR.
  • Provide leadership and direction that facilitates operated Psychosocial Rehabilitation services to be clinically effective, and demonstrates best practice models, good outcome measures and consumer satisfaction.
  • Assist in developing program evaluation plans that address meaningful clinical/rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Respond to consumer specific requests, grievances, and system challenges.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures required for Psychosocial Rehabilitation program operations.
  • Help to ensure that program services are provided in a cost effective manner that demonstrates successful outcomes and consumer satisfaction.
  • Monitor each program to ensure that Company and North Carolina policies, procedures, rules, records manual, Medicaid and client rights requirements are followed in the PSR operated program services.
  • Ensure that all programs will be licensed/accredited and adhere to all local/state safety and health requirements.
  • Plan and respond to changes with funding sources, populations to be served and other trends that have an impact on program operated services.
  • Oversee program service development and implementation through grant applications and other funding opportunities.
  • Help to design new positions and job descriptions for Psychosocial Rehabilitation programs as well as reassigning existing positions based on changing needs and resources.
  • Provide skills training to personnel of Psychosocial Rehabilitation programs.
  • May provide supervision as a qualified professional for staff in operated programs.
  • Provide leadership and technical assistance in helping program supervisors/coordinators resolve problems/conflicts in the areas of administrative, clinical, fiscal, and personnel areas of program operations.
  • Facilitate and participate in local advocacy efforts.
  • Represent the company name at community, regional, statewide, and national meetings.

  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to complex casework, group work, and community problems.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of medical, behavioral, and psychosocial problems and their treatment.
  • Knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community.
  • Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies that govern the program.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, disease process, and their treatment as they relate to decisions regarding clinical interventions and appropriate therapies based on medical or psychological diagnosis.
  • General knowledge of the methods and principles of supervision and training.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with a consumer and in applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of consumer’s problems.
  • Ability to supervise, train, or instruct PSR workers, students, or interns in the program.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of caseload and their families as well as civic, legal, medical, social, and religious organizations.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles, techniques, and methods of the rehabilitation process to include assessments, evaluations, development of goals and activities.
  • Working knowledge of behavior management techniques.
  • Considerable knowledge of the characteristics of the population being served.
  • Basic knowledge of the practical application of task analysis and goal writing.  Skills in basic arithmetic, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to observe behaviors and communicate observations and make recommendations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.

Education and Additional Information:
  • Masters degree in a human service field and:
    • More than one full year full-time post graduate accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with adults with mental illness, or
    • A substance abuse professional with more than one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcohol and drug abuse counseling.
  • College degree in a human services field and:
    • At least 2 years of full-time post bachelor’s degree accumulated mental health/developmental disability/substance abuse experience with adults with mental illness.
    • OR:
    • Is, or has been, a substance abuse professional with two years of full-time post bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
  • College degree in other than a human services field and:
    • Greater than four years of full-time post bachelor’s degree accumulated mental health/developmental disability/substance abuse experience with adults with mental illness.
    • OR:
    • Is or has been a substance abuse professional with 3-4 years of full-time post bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
  • Full time, 8 am – 4 pm
  • Regular daily schedule is flexible and dependent upon consumer needs. Additional coverage time is completed as needed in accordance with Company Policy.
